#ShopLocalGiveBack - Sugared & Spiced
Tuesday November 27 , 2018
When you picture a gingerbread house, you don’t often think of a gingerbread infill – but that’s exactly what the creative minds at Sugared & Spiced came up with when they needed to create a masterpiece for the Christmas Bureau gingerbread house challenge! Jeff and Amy Nachtigall are the proud owners of Old Strathcona’s first back-alley bakery and have been creating delicious works of art in our ‘hood for just over a year.
Partnering with the team at CBC Edmonton, our big-hearted back-alley bakery took gingerbread house building to the next level with a custom-built, handsomely decorated, gingerbread infill that caught the eye of the judges (and Don Iveson). Jeff and Amy won’t take all the credit, though. They credit the original infill idea to Mark Connolly.
After all was said and done, the contest was over, and they were the proud recipients of the ‘Shameless Self Promotion’ award, Jeff and Amy couldn’t just get rid of the house… they decided to let their labour of love keep on giving! You can see this sweet work of art in person at Sugared & Spiced, and enter a draw to take it home with you. Monetary donations (cash, credit, or debit) in support of the Christmas Bureau will be gladly accepted along with your ballot! The draw will take place on Sunday, December 9.
Make sure to pop in and take a peek and take home some delicious seasonal treats while you’re there. Whether it’s a stocked cookie box, some gingerbread house supplies of your own, caramel popcorn, or some seasonal cake creations – you’re bound to make someone’s day with a tasty gift. Even if that someone is you!
