  • School History

The Academy at King Edward was established in 1992 as a segregated site for students who meet district criteria for learning strategies. This Grade 2 to 12 program expanded the continuum of services available to students in Edmonton Public Schools. The Academy provides specialized programming in a safe, secure, atmosphere that is designed to meet the academic, social-emotional and classroom learning skill needs of the students. The school is able to provide programming for approximately 200 students, supported by over 25 staff.

The program supports elementary, junior and senior high students in meeting Alberta Learning standards. Our mandate is to re-integrate students into regular programming when they demonstrate the ability to achieve success.

The Academy at King Edward is on the cutting edge of educational technology supports with mobile laptop, IPads and Chromebooks labs. Each classroom is also equipped with the most up-to-date technology available, such as LCD projectors, Smartboards, and a robust wireless network.
