Western Canada Fashion Week is this week!

Wednesday March 23 , 2016

Western Canada Fashion Week is returning to the ATB Financial Arts Barns this Thursday for another season of fashion, design and art. Bringing the catwalk to Edmonton since 2005, WCFW is the second-largest fashion week in Canada!

Setting WCFW apart from Canada’s other fashion weeks is their commitment to supporting the growth of Western Canada’s fashion and design community through providing a platform for designers and opportunities for emerging designers to compete in incubator programs that provide recognition, financial support, and marketing and publicity. Every season, WCFW brings hundreds of designers, models, hairstylists, makeup artists and more, providing an exciting chance for the entire community to connect and build lasting connections.

This season, the shows include presentations from student showcases from Estelle Academy, MC College, and Eveline Charles Academy on Thursday, March 24th. These showcases, the Emerging Designer Competition, and a presentation from last season’s winner of the Emerging Designer Competition offer an opportunity to spot tomorrow’s talent today. WCFW’s “support local, think global” perspective struts down the runway with collections from international designers from Vietnam, the Philippines, Finland, and France, plus collections from multicultural collections from Canadian designers.

A small sampling of the collections being presented by Western Canada’s best designers include a menswear showing from Edmonton’s beloved Stanley Carroll Clothing, LUXX Ready-to-Wear’s “LUXX in Space” collection, menswear and womenswear from Daniel Snow, Malika, and Melany Rowe.
