Shop Spotlight: Under the High Wheel
Friday March 18 , 2016
Old Strathcona is home to a wide variety of restaurants, from tacos and tequila to vegan fare, there’s a fit for every dining preference. Under the High Wheel, part of the Roots on Whyte building, is a charming choice when you want something simple but prepared with care from locally sourced ingredients.

Under the High Wheel’s menu focuses on local, sustainably produced ingredients, featuring local farms, businesses and producers, giving Edmontonians a delicious way to support local. Their menu is accommodating of many diets, including vegan and gluten-free, offering choices that show dietary restrictions shouldn’t mean boring meals!
Under the High Wheel’s cozy and inviting space makes it a wonderful spot for both friends to gather and for a romantic date; come spring and summer, their patio opens and offers a lovely spot to eat and watch the hustle and bustle of the Avenue. However, if you’re just popping in after a yoga class upstairs or one of the other businesses in the building, they offer a selection of sandwiches and salads to-go. Whether you pick one of their fresh sandwiches or a vibrant salad trio, grabbing lunch on the go gets an exciting uplift.

Whether you’re savouring brunch or dinner in the restaurant or grabbing something from the case to go, their pecan brownies are always a perfect treat.
